Vehicle Habitat™ |

|
Adventure Trailers has over the years outfitted vehicles for expedition travel on a one off basis. We used the same high end equipment we installed on our trailers and customized the fit for the vehicle.
With the growth in the amount of equipment we are manufacturing, and stocking, the demand from vehicle owner for us to work on their trucks, vans, and SUV's has become an increasingly larger part of our business.
This has lead to the development of the AT division "Habitat"™ which will concentrate on vehicle preparation.
We are concentrating on two areas, vehicle interiors, and vehicle exterior.
Vehicle Interiors: Primarily concentrating on 12-volt systems, LED lighting, storage solutions, kitchen units, heating, fridges, water storage and medical equipment.
Vehicle Exteriors: Concentrating on roof racks, roof tents, solar, LED lights, compressors, awnings, hot water systems, auxiliary fuel tanks, fuel and water cans. We will also be doing straight bolt on work like, body armor, bumpers, and lifts. |
| |
In addition to the above products we will be providing comprehensive tire repair tools, stoves, privacy shelters, and toilet systems. |

|
Here are examples of five vehicles we have work on recently:
Expeditions West Toyota Tacoma:
After the new owner of the Expeditions West Tacoma returned from a three month overland expedition to Central America the truck was ready for some refreshing. AT Shop Services performed upgrades to the onboard potable water system that included flow corrections and hot shower system. Pesky onboard
parasitic electrical draws were traced and corrected along with repairs to the dual battery system. A replacement onboard audio and satellite navigation system (including backup camera) was installed. Complete factory service and suspension was brokered. |

|
Ex Officio Toyota Tacoma:
This well-built Tacoma 4-door was brought to AT Shop Services for equipment storage solutions. A pair of custom AT composite drawers and custom top loading
storage box were built and installed to create an elevated platform in the Tacoma bed. Water storage and use problems were solved with a 19-gallon
custom tank, powered by an electric pump and dispensed via a flush-mounted shower outlet and optional gravity-fed valve. On board air compressor and air tank were fitted for tire inflation duties. |

|
Nemo Toyota Tacoma:
When Nemo decided to convert its Tacoma from an ice-climbing gear hauler to an Overland vehicle, AT Shop Services were enlisted for the job. A custom elevated truck bed platform consisting of a forward top-loading compartment and two 54 inch equipment drawers was built and installed. A National Luna split charging system was utilized to manage starting and the new house batteries. An Aluminess rear bumper and tire swing-a-way were installed to make the spare tire more accessible and provide for jerry can storage. Remote electrical system management switches were installed in both the cab and bed to allow for independent switching of accessories. A dash mounted 2 Meter radio and antennae were added in an unobtrusive manner. Infrastructure for a custom dog
restraint system was created in the rear seating area. The drive train was upgraded to 4.88 gearing, a rear ARB air locker and a compressor & 4 gallon air tank were installed to drive the locker air requirements and serve tire inflation duties. |
 |
Safari Pacific Ford Ranger:
When AT learned of the ambitious round-the world expedition of Travis Schanafelt, AT Shop Services leapt into supporting role for this trek. For habitat solutions, AT provided a custom-built AT Flippac (with rain cover) to match his modified Ranger truck bed, along with standard-size composite drawers for cargo management. Onboard house system electrical needs are provided by a National Luna Power Pack and mated with a 105 amp deep cycle AGM house battery and 55 amp AGM starting battery. To help manage the increased cargo requirements, AT air suspension components were adapted through Travis’ clever fabrication skills, allowing him to compensate for varying load weights he would encounter throughout his journey. To improve rearward visibility and camp security, a LED work/flood lamp was provided.

R.P Jeep JK Rubicon Unlimited 4 dr:
After RP had his ultimate Horizon trailer built by AT, he needed to make upgrades to his factory stock 2010 Jeep Rubicon 4 door JK. AT Shop Services installed front and rear Expedition One bumpers and rear tire carrier. To increase cargo-carrying capacity, a Garvin Wilderness ¾ length roof rack was added, allowing use of the “Freedom Top” removable panels on his jeep without significantly increasing wind noise. For vehicle recovery purposes a Super Winch 9.5 electric winch with Viking synthetic line was installed and a hi-lift jack was added to the tire carrier. A pair of PIAA driving lamps were mounted to the Expedition One front bumper to improve night driving visibility. RP, being an ex-Forest Service Firefighter, a 5 lb. ABC fire extinguisher was a minimum “must have” that was mounted on the inside rear of the JK hardtop. To turn the Rubicon into a ground assistance vehicle for RP’s
commercial helicopter operation, a custom warning strobe lighting system was installed on all 4 corners of the vehicle to mark landing locations at night. |
